ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS

Join us for an evening of books, conversations in intimate book presentation at 1002F, in the presence of the Polish and Ukrainian artists, as a preview celebration of the opening of the exhibition ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS at Kulturhaus Helferei.

Why a book? An artist’s book can be more than a documentation of an exhibition or a collection of images. It can become a work of art in itself — a space where stories, memories, fragments and voices can be brought together, carried across borders and encountered again and again.

Art books can also become symbols and witnesses of their time: objects that preserve experiences, perspectives and traces of what is happening around us.

We will present the two books ONCE A YEAR THE STICK SHOOTS (Nastasiia Leliuk / Natalia Wiernik) and HOW ARE YOU (Maria Matiashova / Dima Tolkachov) and speak with the artists about their works,…
